Week 4 - Capture my good side
One of the critiques I've heard from Project Runway spectators is that these looks are only designed to be beautiful from one angle - the front sings while the back screams tragic. For this task, I want you to challenge this idea and create a look that is interesting from multiple angles.
Your submission must include three angles from the back the front and the side. You may also choose to add movement to your submission by posing the avatar if you desire. The looks may not add or remove clothing between angles, so take the time to think about how each item looks from different directions.

Want to know where to start? Have a look at my example below for an idea of what you could do:

This is the first week up and coming designers will not receive advice by default. They are able to ask for advice up to three
more times during the rest of the competition, joining the same advice system as the established designers, so choose your
timing wisely.

For this task, we will be joined by guest judge, Lance, however he is extremely busy with classes and will only be joining us to cut you down with words after submission. If you would like to use your advice this week, see me only.

There are some real intricacies in this design - I particularly appreciate what you ahve done with the top on the front angle with the tattoo overlay. Unfortunately for me, this is whereI get a bit bored. The layers of wings don't do your look justice in my mind and where I while I assume you were going for a cyber-punk aesthetic based on your head accessory, this look falls flat for me.
I don't see the cohesion in this outfit. It doesn't speak fashion at all. The pieces don't compliment each other.

There is a lot of attitude in this design. I could see it as a rival to the look presented by fierce.needles in S1 Week 5. There is drama and each angle brings a new element to the story. I particularly love in the front and back facing look how you have a splash of black bleeding into the skirt brining in that extra dimension. Nice work.
The front part is so good! I want to see Lady Gaga in it. It feels kind of boring, though. I feel like there could be more to it. Maybe a thicker shoes or a third color? I wouldn't know. Loving this outfit still!

I look at this design and honestly can't help but think of Zelda, although I'm sure that was not your intention. I think you suffer in this task by having a model with such stark white skin because to me it feels like the outfit is a bit off as a result. Are you intending for a nude illusion, or are you looking at a white shirt on albino skin? Instead of admiring a design I'm instead lost trying to translate your intentions. As a result the best angle of this look becomes the one which showcases the back.
There's something about it that I don't like, I just can't point it out. The colors match each other very well. The middle part is where it lacked; it felt a little bland
to me.

You really said 'let me show you my street style' this week! I love that you have used one colour palette while changing up the tones to create variation and difference. The only thing I wish you had done here is break your shoes away from that red palette to give the design some breathing room.
Super! The elevated streetstyle outfit is giving it to me! The angst is what makes it better. And the monochromatic outfit? YES PLEASE! I love everything!

I don't know what that little wisp is on the back of your outfit but it wasn't needed. While your colours are perhaps more muted than something I tend to prefer, the outfit itself is something
I cannot fault. It is simple yet stil shows enough detail
from each angle to make
it interesting.
The colors, the accessories, the elements, I love it! They all work together, and it's definitely not a sore to my eyes! I love the masculine and feminine combination. All together, they make an appealing look.

Babe, this look is a serve. I love that each angle reveals something more about the design that I didn't know was there. I'm a sucker for those shoes but by choosing to add the fishnet over the top you've turned them into some sporty style stockings and I'm living for it. A very interesting, wearable concept this week. :)
Not really liking the colors. The top and the bottom doesn't match at all! It screams marching band member mixed with a stripper outfit. The part I liked the most was when he turned around to reveal the back pattern--I'm obsesed with it!

Your inspiration was cyberpunk chainmail, and I do see that concept coming through. You have one of themost contrasted looks this task and I'm a sucker for that sort of vision generally. What i love the most about this look is the chains if I'm honest, and the way you have linked it into the nose ring. We have seen this tail/wing combo before from Snawl but I think that the way you have tied it into your vision works well. It's also one of the more interesting combos with the robo wings I've seen, perhaps because it is shown from every angle and not jus the one.
I'm loving this cyber look! Neon isn't everyone's cup of tea, but they made this outfit work and ate it up too! Like Mick's, It feels a little off because of the middle part. Still, great outfit.

As a new player I can see you struggling to figure out the difference between fashion and costume, and you're somewhat oscillating between these two styles. I'm glad you used your advice this week because this design is very much now sitting in the fashion camp rather than the costume camp. I think the details in this outfit that I love the most are the blue lines of the scarf/skirt, and the purple lines on the shoes/earrings. These pieces work together to tell a story and create unity inside the outfit.
I feel there's a little disconnect between the top and the bottom. It looks like the outfit is swallowing them up. The silhouette isn't really giving it to me. The colors, however, is an obession! The pieces gave it extra spice too! She made the right choice in adding orange to that outfit!

This design is honestly breathtaking. You submited every possible permutation of angles and got me to select the view this week but honestly, all of those angles would have told the same story. Your vision to use the retro blood stains as a graphic print has been executed soe well and your choice of complimenting colours and materials craetes this really graphic gradient downt he body that works so well with the graphic print without overpowering it. It's alost hard to believe that this wasn't a ready made dress because it just works so perfectly together. I would wear this IRL in a heartbeat because it is just so fashionable. Great work. I have nothing but compliments. I can't get over how good this is.
It's one of those outfits that isn't too huge, isn't too decorated, but also isn't too overwhelming. The quote "a little goes a long way" is very fitting for this outfit! The colors are pretty, making it very regal-looking. Smart choice for choosing a volumized hair.

For me this look has so much potential but it doesn't hit the naill on the head. The problem with new clothes being releseased is that often they are used without trying to push them into an innovative space and for me this novelty coat does NOTHING to benefit your design, instead it just engulfs your model in a sea of unknown texture and steals away space for interesting design from other angles. Your front angle is by far the best view for this outfit. The silhouette left by the scarf, stethoscope and skirt is gorgeous, but once you leave that, your design is
just a 50% black and shapeless mess.
So expensive-looking! She looks like she'd roll a blunt infront of me. A thick outfit never goes wrong. Love it!

I have to admit, this look took a while to come around to, I think mostly because I was distracted by the hair - it's not my style - but the way you have used it to continue the nude cutouts from the outfit into the head styling is very clever. The colours are nice, but other than the hair it's not the most innovative look.
The nude color isn't really my favorite. It does work great on blue, though! I see their vision very well. I imagine this on a fashion show. I think what really slayed is the back part. The patterns are to die for.

Task 4 Rankings
So I've decided that very few of ya'll read this section because you just want to scroll and see the scores. So instead of a long essay of reflections this week, I'll try and keep it short.

Congratulations to Brad for your first place ranking this week! I make a huge effort to not judge everyone before all submissions are in, but when you are delivered something that stays in your mind ALL WEEK, it's hard not to. I could honestly stare at this outfit forever and it a well deserved winner for the task.

Unfortunately this week we are saying goodbye to our season 1 winner, Ashlyn. You are always welcome in Fresh Faces and you will forever hold a place in the hall of fame, but each week is a tough set of contestants so one slip is all it takes for anyone to leave the game. Thank you for gracing us with your presence once more!

P.S. If ya'll do read these and want to see a return of the personal reflection essay before rankings, let me know x
