Bespoke Accessories

How you style a look can make a huge difference to the final piece, and for this task we are assigning you each with a bespoke, custom designed neckpiece/collar to layer over your designed outfit. Your accessories can make or break the outfit, so you need to be smart with how you design your look.

These accessories have been lovingly co-designed by Elysse, Peeta and Goob to truly elevate your look and serve as a point of inspiration. Remember to ensure both the clothing and the accessory work together harmoniously.

This outfit is breathtaking! You have done such a great job at referencing the  movement and freedom in the butterfly-esque winged collar and bringing it into focus through your other materials and colour choices.

Finding colours to match a non-traditional 'habbo' colour pallete can be difficult, but your decision to use the darker blue to pair with the light blue on the collar works to tie them all together and allows the right amount of attention to be directed first to the showpiece collar. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this look. For me this was the perfect approach to the task. Well done.

This is a very fun collar to work with so I can see why you’ve chosen it. I love the overall silhouette. The sleeves are really nice spreading from the sides instead of going vertical. I love the flower detail on the bottom of the dress. It gives me garden vibes with the butterfly collar and flowers. However, I would’ve loved to see that teal color a bit brighter blue to match the collar so it looks like one piece rather than an outfit with a collar on it. I do see which direction you were headed, I just wish it matched more. Also, week after week I feel like I’ve seen that hair from you. I would love to see versatility. Other than that, I appreciate the effort and time you’ve put into this outfit because it shows. You’ve redeemed yourself from the last competition you’ve participated in and I’m so happy to see this rise.

I'm not going to lie, when you first sent me this look with the white cloud mocked up over the top I was very much questioning it. It was just so in contrast with your outfit and didn't match at all. Once you sent me the image you wanted the colour matched to look like though I understood your thought process completetly. The blue collar and the dark grey colour palletes gives your model a mysterious air which is both elegant and elevated. You chose the only collar with transparency in it, and I think your fabric inspirations were helpful in this sense, but I am aware that you didn't want it to be so transparent overall - which I also understand given you have tried to use the collar to transform what is quite a blocky outfit into something a bit more freeform at the top. Had you planned your time effectively this week, you could have submitted a draft to see this transparent quality before submitting, however as it is, you were overdue and in my mind, taking away the transparency would mean you failed the brief.

I feel like this collar is one of a few that is very difficult to work with because of the translucent vibe it portrays. However, you have managed to make this work and I applaud you for that. I love the hat with this look because it’s something you wouldn’t expect especially for a collar like that. The use of the navy blue with that gray is a great combination. The four straps in the front are so pleasing to the eye. I love that design because I have never seen it before. The hand gloves are a great addition to this outfit. I just wish your collar was a bit darker to match the other blue. Also, I don’t feel that the eyepiece was needed because you have that wide collar and the hat so I would’ve loved to see less accessories around the face. Other than that, I am so happy that you’ve managed to showcase your talent to us. You are going nowhere but up. Your elevation is so amazing that it makes me very honored to have seen different looks from you week after week.

When you first sent me your design I was a bit worried that your file was low quality - which is VERY out of character for you given you do all the hard work for me every week in photoshop yourself. As I looked closer though, I realised it was simply the intricate detailing of the fabric types you have chosen this week and honestly, that is an approach I wasn't expecting to see. Everything in your look has something contrasting going on with textures, from your chosen moon collar, to the plaid jacket, the felted dress, the studded pants and the shiny shoes - you wouldn't expect it to work, but it does. This outfit feels like an upscale patchwork of dreams. The amount of subtle detailing keeps you looking back to see a new story being told through the clothes. Despite being a more wearable look from you, it still has yoru signature experimental style, and this look has truly transported me into your narrative once again this week.

This is one of the few collars that’s hard to work with because you have to pay close attention to structure of it. One thing I can appreciate about your approach to this collar is that you have details from the neck down with such a plain collar. The problem with this however is that I feel like when looking at this outfit, that collar belongs on a different outfit rather than the one you have on. Since the half-moon starts from the left and goes down to the right, I would’ve loved to see a yellow outfit go from the right, down to the left and show some skin to make a unique avante garde shape overall. The one sleeve was predictable as well because you’ve done that a few times. I expected more from you because you’ve placed high throughout the competition so the pressure was very high in your case. But I know you can pull it off regardless because you’re an incredible designer.

Of the collars Goob designed for this week, this was my favourite so I was glad to see someone had picked it to use. You took the triangular'leaf' styled elements and translated them into the rest of your outfit with teh subtle cutouts, the angled V hem, the pointed shoes and even in the hairstyle you chose, replicating this pattern throughout. The decision to change the colour of your collar was a good one, as it helps take it away from a costumey look and elevate it into something that appears more wearable. I do feel as though something is missing here however. Perhaps a subtle accessory, or an additional colour would have helped bring this look to the next level. Or maybe even a different bottom half of your look. The skirt is ok, but it doesn't really elevate the design in the same way your shirt area does.

I love this collar. The use of this collar connecting to the straps was a smart idea. I love attention to detail. One thing I love about this look is the shape of it. It’s a flattering shape. The look itself is very polished and well executed. Another thing I love extremely about this is the ombré effect from the darker purple to the lighter purple. I’m not used to seeing you with hair like this but that’s what I enjoy about your eye for fashion from head to toe. It gives you a versatile quality which I admire. What I love most is when designers show us viewers a different side to them rather than showing us what we would expect from them. The hourglass corset synched is really cool. Instead of that dress, I would have loved to see striking pants like a jumpsuit with that corset and collar. That would be a sight to see. I’m very proud of you in your journey throughout this competition. You have shown versatility, commitment, dedication, and passion for fashion.

"i Love the choice or color here. VERY nice." - Goob

This look has some real medieval vibes going on here - which almost definitely stemfrom the colour you chose for your collar/cape combo which has a metallic, almost armour like quality to it. Having the cape extend from the collar creates a dramatic outline for the silhouette. The outfit is on brand for your darker, gothic design style and I think you did a really good job at thinking about the gems that are placed on the collar piece itself, both with the lighter shirt elements and the eyeshadow. I do wonder if the darker blue shirt area could have been a different colour to showcase the detailing of the ruffles.

This collar has a unique shape to it. I love the shape. It looks like a wavy pentagon. Applying the jacket-cape with that collar was smart because it connects with one another due to the fact that the colors are there. I appreciate that part of the look. However, I feel like you could’ve included a different outfit from the neck down. I wish you chose a different collar because I know your lane is the gothic approach but it’s predictable at this point in the competition. Much like some of the other designers this week, I wanted to see a different side of you. I wanted versatility, being able to pull off different aesthetics rather than sticking with one. I feel like that’s a comfort zone designers put themselves in but I want them to get out of their comfort zone. It’s easy to stick with what you know but it’s harder to start from scratch and present something way out of your element. You are an amazing designer. I am thrilled to see your progress from the beginning of the competition to the present. You’re growing and you take direction well. You are a force to be reckoned with.

This outfit is streetwear at its finest. The choice to keep the bold yellow colour and combine it with grey and white tones has worked really well for you here to create something stylish and yet unique. Your attention to the textures on the collar is brilliant, and you have mirrored that throughout your other fabric choices which is smart. You asked for the full scarf to show above the collar, however I feel as though that takes away from the illusion a bit for me. Although you see it as the hanging strings on a hoodie, for me it doesn't quite translate due to it being knotted up. Perhaps if only the tail end of the scarf peeped out it would have worked better.

This my favorite collar of the week. I love what you did here. You have executed this look perfectly with your choice of collar. That collar is so elegant and majestic to look at. The choice to wear short polished hair with an oversized collar was indeed a wise yet smart decision. The white on the neck area looks like wrapped laces tightening the collar. That was genius! I love when designers think outside the box and show creativity. The use of the gray with this gold look is very cool. The only thing I would say is that I wish the dress was longer to cover the shoes to make the garment look like a long piece from head to floor sort of like an avante garde approach. Overall, I am so honored and excited that you have managed to showcase something so spectacular especially at this stage of the competition.

"Transforming this conceptual three layered hood into practical, wearable art" - Elysse

TASK EIGHT VERDICT

Some brilliant creations were submitted this week, and given we only have 6 left at this stage, this is unsurprising. The talent on show at this stage in the competition is incredibly fierce and we cannot wait to see what is presented in the final two tasks of this season. The decision on who to send home this week was tough, and there were some VERY close calls. One of the factors that lowered scores this week is seeing similar things repeated a lot throughout the competition. For those remaining in the competition, be careful not to overuse one item of clothing, hairstyle or aesthetic just for the sake of using it, be sure to be bringing new things to the table each week to keep it fresh and push yourselves out of your comfort zones. You've made it to the semis, but with a double elimination before the finals, the stakes could not be higher.

Winner

Congratulations Chan on placing first this week! We felt you transformed your collar in a what which made it seem as though it was truly a piece of Habbo clothing (and without a colour change which is definitely difficult to do)! Bring this fresh fighting attitude with you to the semi finals, because you are constantly surprising us with a unique perspective. You have come so far and we are eagerly awaiting what you show us next.

Elimination

With three really close bottom placements this week, we thought it would be wise to address our bottom three players individually:

Azli, while we often catch your issues early because you submit draft designs (a valuable tool for all!), we recommend you truly consider whether your original approach is too costumey prior to submitting a draft. It is clear you have good ideas, but at this stage in the competition, you have created and seen so many brilliant outfits that you should have a solid understanding of what PR fashion is. We believe you can bridge that gap, and that is why you will be proceeding to the finals.

Dead-roses, you have been a highly competitive player with a distinct gothic aesthetic. It is not bad to be sticking to one visual style per say, but we want to make sure you are not getting complacent. You have the understanding for visually cohesive elements, but sometimes you miss opportunities to highlight or hero different elements of an outfit in order to ensure it keeps that gothic aura. One of the best pieces of advice I (Elysse) got when starting out was from nicrobbo95 - she said to create a great piece, you need to calculate what is necessary and what is just simply desired. Remove the items you don't need until you have a truly perfect design. Ensure that every piece you include is highly vital to your final outfit. You have incredible talent and we want you to show us something which we aren't expecting.

Fierce-needles:, you have solid concepts, and your inspiration this week was a really good place to start. Unfortunately your downfall was lack of time management. We know you are an amazing designer but failure to submit a draft in advance to see issues with the outfit, or submit on time has really been what let you down this week. With a score of 32.5, don't be mistaken - we thought your look was still good, but at this stage in the competition, you needed to bring that extra focus to give you the competitive edge.

While we are sad to see you go so soon, we hope that you continue to work on your outfits and grow, even through this competition.

While you are no longer eligible for the grand prize, you can continue to submit outfits based on the theme after elimination to compete for the Most Improved Designer prize of 100c.

We hope to see you in future short term games inside Habbo, and would happily welcome you back to a future season of Fresh Faces.
